Intro Jiu Jitsu Adults and teens · Beginner +
Start with a structured curriculum that makes your first steps on the mats understandable. You will learn how to move safely, protect yourself in common positions, escape bad situations, control an opponent, and recognize when a submission is available. No athletic background or martial arts experience is required.
- Base, posture, and safe movement
- Grips, distance, and positional awareness
- Escapes, takedown fundamentals, control, and submissions
- Controlled partner drilling and appropriate live practice
A coach explains how training works on the mats, pairs you appropriately, and helps you work at a manageable pace. You are not expected to know the terminology or keep up with experienced students on day one.
Best for first-time students, returning students who want stronger fundamentals, and anyone seeking practical skill, fitness, and confidence.
Current availabilityGi and No-Gi beginner-friendly options are available across Coos Bay and Coquille.
Book a Trial →Youth Jiu Jitsu Ages 4–12 +

- Balance, coordination, and safe falling
- Position, control, escapes, and practical self-protection
- Listening, teamwork, persistence, and respect
- Games and drills that make technical learning active
Coaches set expectations, demonstrate the day’s skill, and guide students through movement and partner practice. Progress matters more than already being athletic or aggressive.

Current availabilityYouth Gi and No-Gi classes run at both academies for children 12 and under.
Book a Trial →Women’s Intro Jiu Jitsu Women-only · Beginner friendly +
Learn leverage, movement, positional escapes, and practical self-defense in a women-only setting built for questions and steady progress. The goal is not to overpower a larger person—it is to understand position, create space, make decisions under pressure, and leave class more capable than you arrived.
- Posture, framing, distance, and grip awareness
- Escapes from common controlling positions
- Fundamental takedown, control, and submission concepts
- Confidence through repeatable, pressure-aware practice
Tell the coach it is your first day. Technique is introduced progressively, partners work with control, and live training is added only when appropriate.

Current availabilityAvailable Friday evenings in Coos Bay, class is free and loaner gis are available.
Book a Trial →Advanced Gi & No-Gi Jiu Jitsu Experienced students +
Move beyond isolated techniques and sharpen how positions connect. Advanced training develops reliable entries, transitions, counters, timing, pressure, and decision-making against resisting partners in both Gi and No-Gi situations.

- Grip strategy in the Gi and connection-based control in No-Gi
- Takedown integration and transitions between ranges
- Live rounds, competition preparation, and technical problem-solving

Current availabilityBoxing runs in Coos Bay. Kickboxing runs in Coos Bay and Coquille.
Book a Trial →Mixed Martial Arts Teens and adults only +
MMA is where the ranges come together. Students learn to connect boxing and kickboxing with clinch work, takedowns, ground control, escapes, and submissions instead of treating each phase as a separate sport.
- Safe transitions between striking, clinch, takedown, and ground ranges
- Wall or cage positioning, control, and escapes
- Ground-and-pound awareness and submission integration
- Technical drilling, situational rounds, and coached sparring
The right entry point depends on experience. Newer students may begin in Jiu Jitsu and striking classes before joining MMA drilling; coaches will help make that decision.
Best for well-rounded self-defense, serious cross-training, and students interested in stepping into the cage or preparing for competition.
Current availabilityMMA drilling and sparring are for teens and adults only and currently run in Coos Bay.
Book a Trial →Eskrima Adults · All levels +
Eskrima is a Filipino martial art that uses weapon-based training to develop transferable movement and self-defense attributes. Training sticks make angles, timing, distance, coordination, and intent immediately visible, helping students learn to move with purpose rather than memorize disconnected motions.
- Single-stick fundamentals and clear angles of attack
- Footwork, range, timing, rhythm, and defensive movement
- Two-hand coordination and progressive partner drills
- Connections between weapon movement and empty-hand responses
Expect technical instruction, solo movement, and controlled partner practice. Equipment and intensity progress with the lesson; ask Coach Brad what to bring before your first class.
Best for adults interested in Filipino martial arts, practical weapons awareness, improved coordination, or a challenging complement to striking and grappling.
Current availabilityAdult Eskrima runs Saturdays from 11:30 AM–12:30 PM at the Coquille academy with Coach Brad.
